10 Topical Highlights From The Rock Foundation Study
Highlights of the ten-week study which held between January and March 2022
On 16th January, 2022 a series of studies tagged, “Rock Foundation Studies” started at Oritamefa Baptist Mission Church, Lakoto-Ajibode, Ibadan. It was a series that would last for the next ten weeks and the first study was, “The New Birth.”
An array of great men and women of God including the Pastor, Revd Jide Olutunde, Pastor Mrs Durodola, Mrs Foluso Orimadegun, Pastor J.T Orimadegun, Dcn. Prof Bamidele Omitoyin, and the Amole family tore into ten preselected topics that usually appear complex to a new believer and unbeliever.
The study series came to an end on 20th March, 2022 with the last study, “Water Baptism.” After which a wrapup of all studies held today, 26th March, 2022. This article discusses the key points from all ten topics during the wrapup meeting:
- The New Birth And The Assurance Of Salvation
David said in sin did my mother conceive me. Even the smallest kid in our church is a sinner.
There is no one that is righteous. All have sinned and have come short of the glory of God.
The strength of the law is sin and everything unrighteous is sin. You may not have stolen or lied but when you know how to do right and you don’t do it you have sinned.
What is the way out of sin?
- You must recognise that you are a sinner.
- Jesus said you must be born again (John 3:3)
- You must make a frantic effort within yourself against sin.
- We have direct access to God through Jesus Christ.
- The things you used to do you start to get irritated by them.
- Create time for the word of God. Quiet time.
- Create time to read the scriptures.
- Create time to fellowship with others. Nobody knows it all.
- Fast to seek the face of God.
2. Grow In The Faith
One of the characteristics of living things is growth. If you eat on a daily basis, you should also feed on the word of God daily (Joshua 1:8).
You have not seen Jesus but you believe by faith. Therefore that faith must grow.
How can you grow in faith?
- Your faith grows by studying. God honours His word above His name!
- Pray all manners of prayer. The Holy Spirit will teach us to pray.
- By not missing church.
- Read books written by men of God.
- Listen to Christian music.
- Watch Christian movies.
- If you don’t know any other thing, call the name of Jesus!
- Call the Blood of Jesus.
- Listen to Christian Testimonies.
To grow further in our faith, we must memorise scriptures. You will then be able to brandish your sword on the battleground.
Note: You cannot grow too much in the Christian faith.
3. The Trinity
God manifests Himself in three ways:
- The Almighty God Himself.
- Jesus Christ the Son, and
- The Holy Spirit.
The three are one but with different assignments. Prayers are offered to God. You pray in the name of Jesus. The Holy Spirit then helps us to pray aright. Romans 8:26
4. Living Victoriously
You don’t talk about victory if there are no battles. Neither do we talk about success in exams without examinations. We are only declared winners when we overcome challenges.
How To Live Victoriously
- You must know who you are in Christ.
- You have been delivered from the power of darkness.
- The devil will always come in one way or the other. Remember to keep telling the devil he is a liar.
- The battles of life are in different forms. The battles of the world, the wicked, and the flesh. But… The battle of the strong is to stay strong.
- It is written... Whoever doesn't know the written word has failed.
- Plead the Blood on your thoughts.
How do you overcome in life...
- Remember the book of the Law, the Bible (Joshua 1:8)
- Use the blood of the lamb.
- Our faith (1 John 5: 4 - 5)
5. Christian Stewardship
Stewardship is all about rendering services. Whatever you have been called into do it well.
You are not pleasing the Pastor nor seeking his favour. Seek God’s favour in your service and let your stewardship be first unto God.
Some of us are silent workers it’s not all of us that will hold the mic. Let us use our all to serve God.
6. Rapture
On the last day... Only true believers shall be raptured. (Sing along)
The time and moment when true believers will be lifted to be caught up with Christ in the heavens.
Rapture can take place anytime. The Bible depicts that while two are doing things together, one will be taken and the other left.
How To Be Rapturable
- Purge yourself of your old ways.
- Follow peace with holiness.
- Live the normal Christian life.
Remember those who will miss rapture will face great tribulations.
7. Eternity
Eternity means an endless time. The physical death is not the end of life.
Satan is the chief of hell and it is real.
Although the body will decay the soul and spirit will give account. We must strive that we may make heaven.
8. Holy Spirit Baptism
The experience of Holy Spirit Baptism can include speaking in tongues and screaming.
The Holy Spirit Baptism is passed on by the laying on of hands.
The Holy Spirit Baptism Is Given To…
- Those who are thirsty after righteousness.
- Those who do things in faith.
The Effects Of Holy Spirit Baptism
Acts 1:8; Romans 8:26
The Holy Spirit utters intercessions with groaning that cannot be uttered. He through us.
The only hindrances to being baptised by the Holy Spirit are sin, doubt, fear, and demonic hindrances.
9. Consecration
Consecration means dedication and hallowing God. It also means to be set apart for a special use of God.
You can be consecrated by making a conscious and willing decision to dedicate your soul and body to God.
This decision must be carried out willingly and by the individual.
If you will be full you must eat by yourself. Therefore, you must yield to the will of God.
Set yourself apart for God’s service. There must be a crucifixion of the flesh. Every part of our body and lives must be consecrated to God.
10. Water Baptism
The need for immersion by water for Christians started with Christ going to John the Baptist.
In tie-dye we take the clothes and immerse it take the colour of the dye.
Who can be baptised?
- All who have repented and have the assurance of salvation.
- Those who have been taught by the word of God.
- Those whose eyes have been opened to the light of the Gospel.
- Only those who understand, have confessed Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
- Only those who are matured and old enough to understand what it is to be in Christ should be baptised. Therefore, children and babies shouldn’t be baptised.
Conclusion
Truly, men have been made during the course of this programme and many blessed. From the new birth, to the baptism of the Holy Spirit, all the way to the summit of Water Baptism has been a blessed experience.
It is expected that there will be future episodes of this powerful and impactful teaching until the whole body of Christ reach the fullness of who has called us into his marvellous light.
